Informačná karta

Notification of employment of a foreigner (card for the labor office)

What does “Informačná karta” mean in Slovakia?

Informačná karta (Information card) is a notification that an employer sends to the labor office (employment service) when hiring a foreigner with a status (for example, temporary protection). It is submitted approximately within 7 working days, for free and without a separate application from the employee.

For people with temporary protection, this is the only formality from the employer: a work permit is not needed. It is worth making sure that the card is submitted and having a written contract. Details are on [upsvr.gov.sk](https://www.upsvr.gov.sk) and [mic.iom.sk](https://mic.iom.sk).

Important. If an employer says they "cannot register you because of your status," this is not true: with temporary protection, they only need to submit an information card.
