Two situations that look the same can end differently because of the type of residence permit, the family situation, the date the documents were filed or the practice of one particular office. For decisions with legal or financial consequences, talk to a specialist in that field.
Laws, rates and deadlines change
We date our content, name the source next to every figure and check the numbers against official registers. Even so, rules, rates and deadlines can change after publication — sometimes retroactively.
Before an important step, check the current figures at the primary sources: slov-lex.sk, minv.sk and the websites of the relevant authorities. If a page names a period (“Q1 2026”, “in force from 1 January”), that is not a formality — it is the line beyond which the number may already be different.
What we do to avoid mistakes
Key figures — tax rates, minimum wages, public holiday dates, emergency numbers — go live only when two independent sources confirm them as the same figure. If there is no confirmation, we would rather drop the number than show one we are unsure about.
Where the data keeps moving — ticket prices, border queues, exchange rates — we show the date we checked and a link to the primary source instead of a promise about the future. That is deliberate: an honest range with a date is worth more than a precise number that no longer holds.
Liability
We are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of the content on this site, nor for possible inaccuracies or information that has gone out of date. Using the site means you understand and accept this.
If you spot a mistake, write to us. We check such reports and correct the material — it is a faster route than it looks.
Directory of specialists and companies
KOMPAS is not a party to the relationship between you and a specialist, agency or carrier from the directory, and does not guarantee the quality of their services. We show data you can verify — status in the official register, city, working language — but the choice and the arrangements stay with you.
Check the specialist yourself: for regulated professions this takes a minute in the official register. Before you pay, ask for a written description of the service and of the full price.
Tools and calculators
The calculators, the currency converter and the translator give an approximate result, enough to see the order of magnitude. They do not replace an accountant’s calculation, a bank’s official rate or a sworn translation of a document.
Machine translation is not official. Do not put passport data, medical information or contracts into it: the text is processed by an outside service, and that service may keep what you send.
Health and emergencies
Health content is for reference and does not replace an examination by a doctor. If there is an immediate threat to life or health, do not look for the answer on a website — call 112.
Specialized helplines — poison control, crisis support, mountain rescue — do not replace an emergency call; they come in addition to it.

The site links to outside resources: government authorities, registers, carriers and services. We are not responsible for their content, their availability or their privacy policies.
A link to a commercial service is not a recommendation to buy there — it is a way for you to check the information at the primary source.
