Práceneschopnosť (shortened to PN) means temporary inability to work when an employee cannot perform their job due to illness or injury. A doctor must confirm this.
How it works
- A doctor opens a PN — today, this is usually done electronically (ePN).
- The first days of inability to work are paid by the employer (náhrada príjmu - income replacement).
- After that, the Social Insurance Agency (Sociálna poisťovňa) takes over the payment (nemocenské - sickness benefit).
During PN, you receive a part of your salary, not the full amount, so it is noticeable financially. You must inform your employer about your inability to work immediately. There is also a set schedule — you must be at home during certain hours, as a control check is possible.
