Výplatná páska (payslip) is a monthly document from your employer that shows in detail how your salary was calculated. Your employer must give it to you.
What you will see in it
- Hrubá mzda — gross salary (before deductions).
- Čistá mzda — the net amount you receive.
- Deductions: health (zdravotné) and social (sociálne) insurance, advance income tax payment.
- Bonuses, extra pay for overtime, hours worked.
Check that deductions (odvody) and tax are calculated correctly. This affects your pension, sick pay, and other benefits. Keep your payslips: banks may ask for them when you apply for a loan, and institutions may ask for them to confirm your income, for social benefits, or to process your residence permit. We recommend comparing the amount on your payslip with the amount that actually arrived in your bank account, and keeping the payslips in one place — either on paper or electronically. If you change jobs, ask for summary documents for your entire period of employment.
