When Shops Are Closed in Slovakia — Calendar of Holidays and Days Off in 2026
In Slovakia, shops are closed by law only six days a year: January 1, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, December 24 after 12:00 PM, December 25, and December 26. For other holidays, including May 1, July 5, or November 1, supermarkets operate as usual. This has been the case since November 1, 2025: before that, the ban applied to 15 days. In 2026, there are still three "closed" days ahead, and all three fall on Christmas.
