Signature certification — this is an official confirmation of a signature. It means that a specific person signed a document with their own hand in front of an authorized person.
Where to do it
- At a notár (notary).
- At the matrika — the registration department at a city or village office.
- Often also at customer service centers or some post offices.
You go in person with an identification document and sign in front of an official. It is important to understand: they certify the signature itself, not the content of the document. This means the office does not confirm that what is written in the document is true. There is a small fee for each signature. This certification is often needed for powers of attorney, applications, and other documents submitted to institutions. Please note: signature certification is not the same as a certified copy of a document; these are different services. If the document is in a foreign language, some notaries may ask for a translation beforehand, so check this in advance.
