Diaľničná známka

Road vignette (highway toll)

What does “Diaľničná známka” mean in Slovakia?

Diaľničná známka — this is an electronic road vignette, which means a payment for the right to drive on Slovak highways (diaľnica) and expressways. You need to have it for most passenger cars — usually weighing up to 3.5 tons.

How to buy

  • The vignette is now electronic — it is linked to the license plate (EČV), so you don't need to stick anything.
  • You can buy it online on the official website eznamka.sk, at gas stations, or at kiosks.

Vignettes are available for different periods — for example, for a few days, a month, or a year; you choose the one that is convenient for you. It is only needed on marked highways, and you can usually drive on regular first-class roads for free. A separate vignette is sometimes needed for a trailer with a certain weight. Please note: driving on a toll highway without a valid vignette can result in a significant fine, so get it before your trip.

Important. Vignette check is automatic — cameras read the number. Make sure you entered the correct license plate number and country of car registration.
