Mzdové príplatky

Legal salary supplements (night, weekend, holidays, overtime)

What does “Mzdové príplatky” mean in Slovakia?

Mzdové príplatky (wage supplements) are legal extra payments above the basic salary. Most often: for working at night, on Saturday, Sunday, holidays, and for overtime hours.

Their amounts are tied to the minimum hourly wage and are updated every year (guidelines for 2026: night work +40%, Saturday +50%, Sunday and holidays +100%). Therefore, the real income for shift work is often higher than the "bare" salary advertised in job offers. Check the current percentages at [employment.gov.sk](https://www.employment.gov.sk).

Important. Additional payments — not a "bonus" from a generous employer, but a legal requirement: they must be calculated automatically, check your payslip.
