Správny poplatok

Administrative (state) fee

What does “Správny poplatok” mean in Slovakia?

Správny poplatok is an administrative fee that the state charges for processing applications and issuing documents: permits, certificates, attestations, registrations, etc. Without paying the fee, the institution usually will not even start processing your case.

How to pay it

  • eKolok — an electronic option: at a terminal kiosk, at the post office (Slovenská pošta), or online.
  • Kolok — a paper fiscal stamp (now almost replaced by eKolok).
  • Sometimes — by card or bank transfer directly at the institution.

The amount of the fee depends on the type of application and is set by the law on administrative fees. Some electronic applications cost less than paper ones. Always attach the receipt or printout of the eKolok to your application — without proof of payment, it will be considered incomplete and may be returned. Therefore, first find out the exact amount for your specific type of application, and then pay. For some applications, the fee can be paid right at the institution, while for others, it must be paid in advance at the post office or a terminal.

Important. Keep the proof of payment (eKolok or receipt). If your application is rejected, the fee is usually not returned, so check the amount and payment details in advance.
