What does “Licencia SBS (preukaz odbornej spôsobilosti)” mean in Slovakia?

SBS license (preukaz odbornej spôsobilosti) is a certificate of professional fitness for a security guard to work in a private security service (súkromná bezpečnostná služba). You cannot work as a security guard without it.

To get it, you need: to be an adult, a clean criminal record (bezúhonnosť), training and an exam, and medical fitness. In SBS job offers, they write "preukaz typ S" or "licencia" — without it, the candidate will not be considered. Apply through the Ministry of Interior (MV SR) ([minv.sk](https://www.minv.sk)).

Important. If the SBS job offer says "no ID card needed," you should check the company. Legal security guards must have an ID card.
