Rodné číslo is a personal identification number given to every person in Slovakia. It uniquely identifies you in government and private systems and is needed for almost any official action.
Where it is needed
- Getting health insurance and registering with a doctor.
- Signing an employment contract or a lease agreement.
- Communicating with institutions, banks, and schools.
The number usually consists of digits related to your date of birth and has a special control structure. Ukrainians often receive a rodné číslo when they get their residence status. This is sensitive personal data: do not tell the number to strangers or post it online. If you do not have one yet, ask at the cudzinecká polícia (foreign police) or the institution where you are submitting documents how to get it in your situation.
