Migration Police: New Online Registration System

The Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic has updated the online appointment system for the Alien Police departments (Cudzinecká polícia). The main goal is to reduce chaos with appointment times and make waiting fairer.

Here are the key updates that everyone should know.

User distinction by access level

The system now divides all applicants into two categories:

  1. Unregistered users (those applying for the first time and without documents). You only need basic information to register: full name, date of birth, phone number, and email. You can book an appointment up to 40 days in advance.

  2. Registered users (foreigners with a valid residence card and an activated BOK code). This category has priority – the calendar is open for booking 60 days in advance.

Tip: If your document is no longer valid, you can still register by entering the details from your old card.

New structure for service categories

For your convenience, all services are divided into three groups:

  1. Temporary protection (Odídenec): registration and issuing of cards.

  2. General residence matters: temporary residence, permanent residence, EU citizen registration, changing details.

  3. Visas: applying for national visas.

It is important to note that some administrative actions do not require an appointment. Specifically, collecting your ready documents or submitting additional materials for applications you have already filed can be done during regular office hours without booking.

Individual appointment principle

An important change for families: group bookings have been canceled. Now, each family member (even a child) must have their own separate appointment. The principle of "one appointment for the whole family" no longer applies.

When to look for available slots?

The system updates with new dates on a clear schedule:

  • New dates appear every day after 3:00 PM.

  • Available slots (if someone canceled an appointment) are updated every 20 minutes.

When is an appointment not needed?

Some matters can be handled without an online registration, simply by coming in person during working hours in the "walk-in" queue:

  • Collecting your already issued plastic card (ID).

  • Submitting additional documents for a case you have already filed.

Experts note that the system upgrade may help reduce queues and ensure a more even distribution of workload among the alien police departments across the country.
