Decision is an official written decision from a state institution about your case: for example, granting or refusing a permit, social benefit, fine, etc. It is the main document that confirms the result of the review of your application.
What is important to know
- The decision includes the conclusion (the decision itself), reasoning, and explanation on how and within what period to appeal.
- The period for appeal (odvolanie) starts from the day the decision is delivered.
- When the period passes without an appeal, the decision becomes legally binding (právoplatnosť).
Carefully read the poučenie section – it explains where and by when to submit an appeal. Keep the envelope with the delivery date and the decision itself: they prove when the time limit started. If you do not understand something, ask the institution for clarification or seek legal help without waiting for the last day. Keep the original decision – it will be needed for future applications and as proof of your status.
