Getting official documents in Slovakia is now much easier. Slovenská pošta (Slovak Post) has expanded its e-government services: you can now get legally valid extracts at any post office in the country. Previously, only about 500 selected offices offered these services, but now the service is available across the entire network.
What can you now get at the post office?
Documents issued at the post office have the same legal power as those issued directly by government agencies. This makes life much easier when looking for a job, buying a home, or starting a business.
The main list of services:
For real estate: an extract from the property register (list vlastníctva) and a copy of the cadastral map.
For work: a certificate of no criminal record (výpis z registra trestov).
For business: an extract from the commercial register (výpis z obchodného registra).
For documents: certifying copies and converting paper documents into legally valid electronic form, and vice versa.
According to the Slovak Minister of Transport, Jozef Ráž, the post office is becoming the main bridge between citizens and the state. "If you previously had to take time off work and run around to different institutions to get a certificate, that is now in the past. The post office is no longer just about letters and parcels," the minister said.
How to use the service?
The process is very simple:
Go to your nearest post office.
Show your identification (ID card) and provide the data for searching the register.
Receive the official document on the spot.
This step will help reduce the workload of government agencies and save time for thousands of citizens, especially in regions where there are no specialized agency offices.
