Seasonal work is a quick way to earn money in a few weeks or months without long-term commitments. Demand grows in waves: in summer and autumn — harvesting and agriculture, during the resort season — hotels and restaurants (High Tatras, Poprad, spa towns), and before Christmas — retail, warehouses, and delivery at peak order times. Many such vacancies come with accommodation and transport, making them convenient for those arriving for a short period or working on a shift (turnus) schedule.
For the season, a dohodа (agreement outside employment relations) is often used instead of an employment contract — a more flexible format. A special dohoda o pracovnej činnosti na výkon sezónnej práce (DoPČ for seasonal work) allows for approximately up to 520 hours of work per year and has a contribution relief (odvodová odpočítateľná položka) that reduces deductions from seasonal earnings.
