Driver and Transport Jobs in Slovakia
From international C+E truck routes to city deliveries — one of Slovakia's highest-paying job sectors for drivers.
Logistics in Central Europe relies on drivers, and Slovakia is constantly looking for them — from international C+E truck transport (MKD) to city deliveries and courier services. For foreigners with driver's licenses, this is one of the highest-paying job sectors: an experienced long-haul truck driver with daily allowances can earn amounts unattainable for most standard professions.
The range is wide and depends on the category. Delivery driver or courier (small/van, without Slovak language) — approximately €900–€1,400 gross. C+E truck driver on international routes — from €1,000 to €2,600 and higher, and with daily allowances (diéty), the total income reaches €3,000 and more. Labor and compensation rules are confirmed by employment.gov.sk.

Frequently asked questions about work
How Much Does a Driver Earn in Slovakia in 2026?+
Delivery driver and courier — approximately €900–€1,400 gross/month, C+E truck driver on international routes (MKD) — from €1,000 to €2,600, and together with daily allowances (diéty), the total income often exceeds €3,000. Daily allowances are expense compensation, not salary, so clarify the income structure during the interview — rules are on employment.gov.sk.
Is Slovak Language Required for Driving Jobs?+
For deliveries, courier services, and international freight transport, Slovak is usually not required — routes and documents are standard, and communication is often in English or Russian. An exception is a bus or public transport driver (MHD): they work with passengers and schedules; more vacancies without language requirements are on the page jobs without Slovak language.
What Documents Are Needed to Work as a Long-Haul Truck Driver (C+E)?+
Basic package: appropriate license category (C, C+E), driver qualification card (KKV, 'code 95'), and tachograph card (tachografová karta) that records driving time, breaks, and rest. Ukrainian licenses and qualifications often need to be recognized or reissued according to EU rules — the procedure is explained on mic.iom.sk.
What are Diéty and Are They Included in the Salary?+
Diéty (daily allowances, cestovné náhrady) are compensation for a driver's expenses for days spent on the road away from home, which significantly increases a long-haul truck driver's total income (with them, it reaches €3,000 and more). Important distinction: salary is subject to taxes and contributions and builds up work history, while daily allowances are not. Therefore, with a high proportion of daily allowances, you get more 'take-home' pay now, but social security is calculated based on a lower official salary — rules are on employment.gov.sk.
Are Drivers Hired Directly or Through an Agency?+
Both: stable carriers hire directly under an employment contract (pracovná zmluva, TPP), and some drivers are recruited by employment agencies (ADZ) if they have a ÚPSVaR license and offer the same conditions as permanent staff. Regardless of the path, charging drivers a fee for employment is prohibited by law — this is a sign of fraud; the agency registry is on upsvr.gov.sk.
