The popular food guide TasteAtlas published a ranking of the best restaurants in Slovakia. Experts highlighted 16 places with national cuisine across the country, but, by the way, none of the restaurants in the capital made it into the top 5.
Fifth place is taken by Vínotéka u františkánov. This place is for those who like to combine history with desserts. The restaurant is located within the walls of a former monastery. It is here that the best Skalický trdelník is prepared – a famous Slovak pastry that was the first in the country to receive protected geographical status in the EU. Also, a special feature is the huge selection of local wines, which perfectly complement the sweet trdelník.

Fourth place is held by Koliba Kamzík, located in the heart of the Tatras and is a must-visit for tourists. After a long walk in the mountains, nothing is more invigorating than their dishes and authentic interior with a fireplace and panoramic mountain views. The restaurant is famous for its Kapustnica (a thick soup made from sauerkraut with smoked meat). It is the perfect warming option for a mountain getaway.
An honorable third place was awarded to the restaurant Gurmánsky Grob. If you are looking for something special, this village is famous for its tradition of roasting geese, and the Gurmánsky Grob restaurant is one of the best in this regard. This place is appreciated, of course, for its roasted goose. Also, be sure to try Lokše (traditional potato pancakes), which are served here as a side dish to meat or with pâté. It is for these that the restaurant took third place in the ranking. In addition, the restaurant has many awards for preserving the gastronomic traditions of the region.

Second place was given to the agro-complex "Biofarma Príroda". Here you will find your own bakery, cheese dairy, and farm. An ideal place for a family holiday in nature near Bratislava. In addition to classic halušky, it is worth trying Strapačky (halušky with sauerkraut and bacon). Everything is prepared from their own organic products. And you can buy fresh farm cheese and bread to take home.

First place in the ranking is reserved for the restaurant Koliba u Svätého Krištofa. This is a true showcase of traditional Slovak architecture and cuisine.
