In short

Nova Post in Bratislava, Košice, and other cities: branch addresses, rates to Ukraine from 07/30/2026, times, customs rules, comparison with Packeta.

If you just need to send a parcel to Ukraine — here is a short answer. Find the nearest Nova Post branch, bring the shipment unsealed, and pay by weight: documents — 20 €, up to 2 kg — 24 €, up to 10 kg — 30 €. It will take from five working days. Nova Post — that is how “Nova Poshta” is called in Europe — operates in Slovakia with its own branches, partner parcel lockers, and door-to-door delivery. Next — addresses, surcharges, customs thresholds, and comparison with Packeta and Slovenská pošta; all prices and rules.

In which cities there are branches

The network is arranged according to the usual Ukrainian logic: there are full-fledged branches where you can send, receive, weigh, and pack a parcel, and there are parcel lockers and partner pickup points — together, according to the company, more than 1500 service points across the country.

Own branches operate in five cities:

City

Address

Shipment weight limit

Bratislava

Dunajská 7495/14

up to 1000 kg

Košice

Južná trieda 1542/3

up to 100 kg

Prešov

Slovenská 3257/69

up to 30 kg

Nitra

Mostná 207/15

up to 30 kg

Trenčín

Generála Svobodu 1

up to 30 kg

The company also announced openings in Trnava, Senec, Žilina, and Banská Bystrica. Before visiting, check the address and schedule of the specific point on the official branch map — the map also shows partner parcel lockers near you.

Rates Slovakia ↔ Ukraine

Rates are the same both ways — whether you send to Ukraine or your relatives send to you. Effective from 07/30/2026, prices in euros including VAT:

So a 15 kg parcel will cost 30 + 5×1.50 = 37.50 €.

Surcharges are also simple.:

The commission on declared value up to 500 € is already included in the rate; above 500 €, an additional 0.5% is added. A light but bulky parcel will be charged by volumetric weight if it is greater than the actual weight.

The standard limit for international shipments is documents and parcels up to 30 kg; heavier is a separate cargo transportation service.

Delivery times

Official times, in working days, excluding weekends and holidays:

Within Bratislava

The parcel takes longer if delayed at customs — the most common reason, and it depends only partly on the carrier. You can see the status by the shipment number on novapost.com or in the My Nova Post account (website and app); if it hasn’t changed for a long time, call support — the operator can see where the parcel physically is.

How to send a parcel to Ukraine

The easiest way is from a branch, following the official instructions:

  1. Check the contents against the list of prohibited items (below).

  2. Write the sender’s and recipient’s data in Latin letters: last name, first name, e-mail, phone, branch number or full address. In Ukraine, the parcel will be issued at a branch, parcel locker, or delivered by courier — you choose the method when ordering, which affects the final price.

  3. Hand over the shipment open: the operator must inspect the contents, this is a requirement of international transportation. A sealed box will be opened; exception — factory packaging.

  4. Pay for delivery and additional services, such as packing.

If you don’t want to go to a branch — call a courier (+4 €) or create the shipment in advance in the My Nova Post account on the website or app, where it is also convenient to track the status. After sending, the recipient will receive a notification (SMS, Viber, or e-mail) about the parcel and any charges; they can be paid in the app, by link, or upon receipt.

When customs will charge taxes

Parcels to Ukraine

Delivery is paid by the sender in Slovakia, and customs payments, if charged, by the recipient in Ukraine. The starting point is the invoice value: the declared value of the contents, which must correspond to the real value. It is also the insurance limit: the parcel is insured up to the invoice value, so undervaluing the declaration means less compensation in case of problems.

  • Up to 150 € — no additional taxes.

  • Over 150 € — import duty 10% on the excess amount, plus VAT 20% on the excess together with the duty, plus Nova Post customs broker services.

Example from the website: goods worth 200 € → duty (200−150)×10% = 5 €, VAT (50+5)×20% = 11 €, total 16 €.

Customs sums up previous shipments: if the recipient has already received international parcels totaling over 150 € in the last month, taxes may be charged. And if the contents do not match the declaration, the parcel may be returned.

Generators, inverters, powerful lithium batteries (from 200 Ah), charging stations over 300 W, and turbines can be imported to Ukraine without duty and VAT — provided they are declared under the correct HS codes (the list of codes is on the shipment page).

Parcels from Ukraine to Slovakia

For shipments from Ukraine (not from the EU!), EU rules apply, details here: personal parcels worth up to 45 € — no payments; over 45 € — Slovak VAT 23%; if the invoice value is over 150 €, duty (0–18% depending on the product) and a fixed customs fee of 3 € per unique product code are added. The recipient pays these — this time you. You can receive the parcel at a branch (document and invoice number), by courier (up to 30 kg, dimensions up to 120×80×69 cm), or at a partner SPS parcel locker — an SMS with a PIN code will arrive.

What cannot be sent

Dangerous goods will not go to Ukraine — weapons, flammable liquids and substances, gases and pressurized cylinders, including regular deodorants and aerosols. Also prohibited are artworks and antiques (paintings, stamps, old books, icons) and jewelry and precious metals.

The most popular categories are allowed: used items, toys, electronics and small household appliances, cosmetics (nail polishes, hair dyes, lotions), household chemicals with manufacturer labels and composition, flash drives and disks without passwords. Medicines and food are a gray area: they are neither on the allowed nor prohibited list, customs evaluates such shipments individually, so ask the operator at the branch — they will inspect the contents anyway. If customs finds prohibited items — the parcel will be returned at the sender’s expense. The full list of prohibited goods is on the website.

Nova Post is the most predictable option for regular household parcels: transparent fixed tariff, Ukrainian-speaking support, familiar tracking.

Packeta (terms for Ukraine) is mainly aimed at online stores, so a private person without a client account will find its advantages harder to feel.

Slovenská pošta (Balík do zahraničia) is a classic post for light non-urgent parcels up to 10 kg: there is basic compensation and insurance for an extra fee, the price for your weight is shown in the price list on posta.sk.

Meest does not publish public rates for Slovakia — before choosing, calculate the cost in the calculator at sk.meest.com and compare with the table above.
