This year, May 8th in Slovakia will be a working day, but its status as a public holiday promises a 100% bonus on average earnings. However, this does not apply to everyone. Managers (if bonuses are already included in their contract), remote workers, and those who agreed to take time off instead of money may not receive bonuses. For non-standard employees, the pay will increase to at least €5.259 per hour.
A similar situation will happen again on September 15th, so many companies found it more profitable to simply give staff a day off than to pay for work at double the rate.
