About the Faculty

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is a structural part of the University of Žilina in Žilina. The educational process is provided by 10 departments specializing in applied mathematics, mechanics, energy, materials science, and industrial engineering.

Students can pursue education at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. The studies focus on preparing specialists for engineering fields and industry, with some programs available in English.

For applicants from Ukraine, studies in Slovak are free of charge. The application fee (prihláška) is €20, and dormitory places (internát) are provided subject to availability.

For most bachelor's programs, admission is grantedwithout entrance exams— based on the average grade of the certificate in relevant subjects. A bachelor's diploma in the relevant field is required for master's programs. Applications are submitted via ePrihláška.

How much does it cost to apply to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Žilina?+

The admission fee is 20 €. This applies to both paper and electronic applications. This is one of the lowest admission fees among Slovak technical faculties. Payment is by bank transfer (Štátna pokladnica, IBAN SK34 8180 0000 0070 0026 9861, constant symbol 0308).

The variable symbol for the payment depends on the program. It is shown in the electronic application and on the program profile on Portál VŠ (University Portal). Please attach proof of payment.

When to apply to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering UNIZA for 2026/2027?+

For the second round of bachelor's admission, the application deadline is July 31, 2026. The admission procedure is scheduled for June 23–26, 2026. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering often admits students without entrance exams based on their high school results.

Since the faculty has open places in technical programs, the chances of admission are high. However, dates may be subject to change, so check them in the faculty's admission system before applying.
