About the Faculty

The Faculty of Civil Engineering is a structural part of the University of Žilina in the city of Žilina. The educational process is provided by 8 departments that specialize in geotechnics, geodesy, bridge design, and construction technologies and management.

Students master engineering specialties, including civil, road, and railway construction. Education is conducted in Slovak at various educational levels, covering the full cycle of the construction industry.

To submit an application (prihláška), applicants from Ukraine pay a fee of 35 euros. Questions about dormitory accommodation (internát) and current deadlines must be clarified directly with the faculty's admissions office.

Admission to the Faculty

For most bachelor's programs, admission is grantedwithout entrance exams— based on the average grade of the certificate in relevant subjects. A bachelor's diploma in the relevant field is required for master's programs. Applications are submitted via ePrihláška.

How much does it cost to apply to the Civil Engineering Faculty of the University of Žilina and when is the deadline?+

The admission fee is 35 € for both paper and electronic applications. Application deadlines for bachelor's studies: 1st round – by May 31, 2026, 2nd round – by August 14, 2026.

Admission procedure takes place on July 3, 2026 (1st round) and August 24, 2026 (2nd round). As the faculty often admits students without entrance exams based on high school grades, the chances of admission are high.

What study programs and departments does the UNIZA Faculty of Civil Engineering have?+

The faculty has eight departments: Department of Structural Mechanics and Applied Mathematics, Department of Surveying, Department of Geotechnics, Department of Building Structures and Bridges, Department of Civil Engineering and Urbanism, Department of Road Engineering, Department of Railway Engineering and Track Management, and Department of Construction Technology and Management.

This covers the full spectrum of civil engineering – from structures and bridges to roads, railways, and surveying. The faculty also has a Centre of Excellence for Transport Engineering and an accredited testing laboratory.

Is studying at the UNIZA Faculty of Civil Engineering free for Ukrainians?+

The University of Žilina is a public university, so full-time study in Slovak is free of charge for the standard duration of study, including for Ukrainians with temporary protection status. Only the admission fee of 35 € is charged.

Fees apply for part-time (externá) study or for exceeding the standard duration of study. The faculty is located in Žilina on the Veľký Diel campus.
