About the University
The University of Žilina in Žilina is a state higher education institution, founded in 1953 as the College of Railway Engineering. It is the largest technical university in northern Slovakia, has 6 faculties, and is included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026.
It offers over 200 accredited programs for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees, including in the fields of IT, engineering, economics, and social sciences. Teaching is conducted in Slovak and English; full-time study in Slovak is free.
