About the Faculty
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies is a structural part of the University of Žilina in the city of Žilina. The faculty has six departments, including the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Ecology, the Department of Mechatronics and Electronics, and the Department of Multimedia and Information and Communication Technologies. There are also departments of Physics, Control and Information Systems, Theoretical Electrical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.
Education is provided for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctor of Philosophy programs in Slovak and English. Students can study specializations related to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, power system management, and information and communication technologies. The programs combine a theoretical foundation with practical research in the departments.
To apply, you need to submit an application form (prihláška) and educational documents with an apostille or legalization. The application fee is 20 euros. The deadline for submitting documents for Bachelor's programs is April 30, 2026 (first round) or September 8, 2026. Education in Slovak is free, while education in English is paid. Dormitory accommodation (internát) is available for students.

How much does it cost to apply to FEIT UNIZA in Žilina and are there entrance exams?+
There are no entrance exams — applicants are admitted based on their high school results. The fee for one application is only €20, which is one of the lowest among Slovak technical faculties. The application is submitted electronically through the information system of the University of Žilina.
In the first round, applications are accepted until April 30, 2026 (admission is planned for June 16–17, 2026). However, the official conditions allow applications to be submitted until September 8, 2026, as long as there are available places. This late deadline is convenient for Ukrainians who are completing the nostrification of their high school diploma or deciding on their choice after the summer.

Yes, "Biomedicínske inžinierstvo" (Biomedical Engineering) is one of the faculty's key programs, led by the Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. Other bachelor's programs include: Automation, Electronics (Electro-optics), Communication and Information Technologies, Multimedia Technologies, Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies in Electrical Engineering.
The faculty has 6 departments and a strong laboratory base; the fields of electronics, mechatronics, and ICT are well combined with the needs of the industry in the Žilina region (especially Kia and the network of automotive suppliers). After a 3-year bachelor's degree, studies continue with an engineering degree, which is recognized in the EU.

Is education at FEIT UNIZA free for Ukrainians and in which language is it conducted?+
Full-time study in Slovak within the standard period is free for all students, including Ukrainians with temporary protection status; fees are charged only for exceeding the study period or for a second parallel study. The main teaching is in Slovak, so sufficient language knowledge is required for technical subjects.
Since the competition for electrical engineering specializations is not high, and the fee is minimal (€20), it is an affordable path for applicants with a technical inclination. The University of Žilina has its own dormitories; applications for accommodation are submitted after admission, and Žilina is a compact student city with a lower cost of living than Bratislava.
