The Office for Regulation of Network Industries of Slovakia — Úrad pre reguláciu sieťových odvetví (ÚRSO) — has published the tariffs for gas, electricity, heat, and water supply that will be valid for households in 2026.
According to the regulator, the increase in costs for the public will be moderate overall, but some components of utility bills will become significantly more expensive. At the same time, part of the increases is planned to be compensated by state energy aid.
Electricity: moderate tariff increase
In 2026, the price of electricity for households in Slovakia will increase by an average of 2.78%. The final amount on bills will depend on the type of housing and consumption volume.
Examples for the most common tariffs:
D1 — average apartment
Average consumption: 1,100 kWh
Annual cost increase: ≈ €47D2 — larger apartment
Average consumption: 2,272 kWh
Annual cost increase: ≈ €105D3 — house with electric heating and water heating
Average consumption: 9,000 kWh
Annual cost increase: ≈ €68
Households eligible for energy aid will receive electricity at reduced prices.
Gas: actual increase by a third
The actual cost of gas in 2026 will increase by approximately 33%. At the same time, for households that meet the criteria for state support, prices will remain at the current level.
Examples of average annual costs (without VAT):
D1 — gas use for cooking
560 kWh: ≈ €76 with aid / €88 without aidD2 — cooking and water heating
10,000 kWh: ≈ €507 / €681D3 — cooking, water, and heating
21,000 kWh: ≈ €1,000 / €1,360
Heating and water: smallest increase
The cost of central heating will increase by an average of about €4 per year. ÚRSO explains this by a decrease in heat consumption, particularly due to warmer winters.
Tariffs for water supply and sewage will increase by approximately €68 per year for one household in 2026 — at the same level as the increase in the previous year.
Who can receive energy aid
To determine eligibility for energy support, the government has introduced the concept of household creditworthiness (bonita). It is calculated based on the total income of all household members, taking into account their number.
Households with a creditworthiness of up to €1,930 per month will be eligible for energy aid in 2026.
