Where exactly to go for a Ukrainian passport in Bratislava?
For a foreign passport and ID card in Bratislava, go to the "Passport Service" customer service center of the State Enterprise "Document" on Prievozská street. This is not a consulate and not the Slovak police. The three institutions that are easy to confuse, because they are all "about documents," actually do different things: "Passport Service" issues Ukrainian passports, the consular department of the Embassy performs consular actions, and the cudzinecká polícia (Slovak immigration police) manages your residence status in Slovakia. Going to the wrong place is not a one-hour mistake, but a lost ticket that you will have to wait weeks to get next time.
Where is it located now and has the address changed?
The current address is Prievozská 6A, Pressburg Tower business center, with parking on the center's premises. Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, 09:00–18:00.
Here is an important point why people still go to the wrong place. The center has moved: according to the official announcement of the State Enterprise "Document" dated 05/19/2025, from May 27, 2025, reception is held at Prievozská. The old address near the bus station still appears in search results, in old articles, and in saved map locations. Check the address before you leave, not while you are on your way.
How to book an electronic queue appointment?
The main rule: it is impossible to get a document issued without an appointment. The center's website states this clearly – citizens are served for document processing strictly by prior appointment in the electronic queue.
However, picking up completed documents works differently – in a walk-in queue. This means you need a ticket to submit documents, but you do not need one to pick them up.
The procedure is as follows:
- Open the electronic queue page and select the service.
- Enter your phone number – you will receive a ticket via SMS or Viber; the system also accepts Slovak numbers.
- Verify your identity through Diia or through the Bank ID system of the National Bank of Ukraine. BankID became available as a second option on June 22, 2026, and is still in testing mode, so have the usual login via "Diia" ready.
- Receive a notification with your ticket number, date, and time.
- On the day of your visit, show this notification to the inspector at the reception.
Two rules that people stumble on most often. First: the notification must be original – forwarded messages and screenshots are not accepted as proof of appointment. Second: the appointment must be made by the citizen themselves or their legal representative. If there is no technical possibility, a family member – spouse, parents, children, siblings – can make the appointment, but you must show original documents confirming the family relationship during your visit.
Why are there "never" any tickets?
The number of tickets is limited by the center's operational capacity. New tickets appear at random times – this is done intentionally to prevent speculation and resale. There is no fixed time when slots are "released," so check the page at different times of the day, not based on advice from someone in a chat.
What documents to bring?
The basic list for a foreign passport is short:
- passport of a citizen of Ukraine;
- individual tax number (RNOKPP);
- application form – it is filled out on site, no need to print anything in advance;
- previously issued foreign passports or child travel documents, if any: valid, expired, even with a different surname;
- extract from the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations – if your previous foreign passport was stolen in Ukraine.
A separate situation applies to those who received their internal passport in territories not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. The Migration Service and the State Enterprise "Document" recommend bringing any documents with your photo additionally: another foreign passport, driver's license, military ID, pension certificate, work pass. If you do not have documents with a photo – birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate, diploma; with a certified translation if necessary.
You will be photographed on site, no need to go to a photo studio separately. Payment is also made on site.
How much does it cost and how long will I have to wait?
The price consists of three parts, two of which are in hryvnias, and one in euros. This is the most confusing part.

Data is from the official service page. The cost is indicated without bank fees. If the payment fails, the money is returned to the bank within three business days.
Now about the timelines – and this is where expectations differ from reality. "Up to 7" and "up to 20 business days" is the manufacturing time, excluding delivery. And for foreign branches, the law sets a separate, much longer safeguard: according to the Law of Ukraine "On the Unified State Demographic Register and Documents Confirming Citizenship of Ukraine," a passport issued by a branch of the State Enterprise "Document" abroad is issued within a period not exceeding three months.
Read this as: seven business days is for printing, and three months is the legal maximum for the entire document's journey, including logistics to Bratislava. Plan your trips, visas, and applications for Slovak documents based on the upper limit, not the lower one.
What is done at the consulate, not at the "Passport Service"?
The consular department of the Embassy of Ukraine is located at Radvanská 35, 811 01 Bratislava, phone +421 259 202 821, email consul_sk@mfa.gov.ua. It also performs consular actions only by prior appointment in the e-queue – you cannot just come "to ask" there either.

Important for the eastern part of the country: in addition to the Embassy in Bratislava, there is the Consulate General of Ukraine in Prešov – Šarišská 1, 080 01 Prešov, with its own online appointment system. It performs notarial acts, citizenship matters, consular registration, and passport services, including issuing foreign passports and identification documents for return to Ukraine. Therefore, the table above shows a typical route, not the only one: if you live in Košice, Prešov, or Michalovce, you generally do not need to travel across the country to Bratislava.
The list of passport and consular services is from the official pages of the Embassy's consular services. Pay attention to the separate line about the apostille: it is also issued at the "Passport Service" – this is one of the services offered by the center, and you don't necessarily need to go to the Embassy for it.
Another thing that few people know: the Embassy periodically conducts mobile consular services in other cities of Slovakia. In the summer of 2026, such trips were made, including to Žilina. If you live far from Bratislava, before planning a trip, it is worth checking the announcements of the consular department – perhaps the consul will come closer to you.
What mistakes are the most costly?
Confusion with the immigration police. A Ukrainian passport and Slovak residence status are different systems. If you need to extend your dočasné útočisko or apply for a residence permit, this is not the place; there is a separate appointment booking system and its own rules.
Forgetting to notify the Slovak police about the new passport. You got a new foreign passport – your Slovak documents are linked to the old number. You must notify them about the document change, and this is a separate visit with its own timeline.
Screenshot instead of an original notification. The most frustrating loss of a ticket: a person forwarded an SMS to a relative or saved a screenshot, and it is not accepted at the reception.
Arriving to pick up a completed document "with a ticket." Documents are picked up without an appointment, in a walk-in queue. Waiting for a ticket for pickup means losing weeks for nothing.
Calculating timelines "at the lower limit." If your Slovak document application or trip depends on your passport, keep in mind the three-month maximum for foreign branches, not the seven business days from the price list.
