Frequently asked questions about the faculty
How much does it cost for Ukrainians to study at the Faculty of Education of Comenius University (PdF UK) in Bratislava?+
Full-time study in Slovak at a state university, such as Comenius University (Univerzita Komenského), is free for the standard duration of the program. This applies to Ukrainian citizens admitted on equal terms with Slovaks. You only pay tuition fees if you exceed the standard duration or study two programs at the same time (§ 92 of Act No. 131/2002).
The only mandatory payment upon admission is an administrative fee of €50 per program. Applications are submitted exclusively online via e-prihláška (online application form); the deadline for the first round is March 31, 2026. Inquire separately about dormitory costs and possible scholarships through the faculty's student affairs office.

What teacher programs does PdF UK offer and when are the entrance exams in 2026?+
The faculty primarily trains teachers: there is a program for primary school (učiteľstvo pre primárne vzdelávanie), teaching for the "art and culture" educational areas, and teacher programs combining two subjects — English, history, music, German, psychology, Slovak, Spanish — and výtvarná edukácia (art education).
In the first round for 2026/2027, written entrance exams are scheduled for June 8–12, 2026, talent and oral exams for May 11–15, 2026, and the deadline for submitting the maturity certificate (high school diploma) is June 19, 2026. Applications are accepted until March 31, 2026, with a fee of €50.
Does a Ukrainian need to have their high school diploma recognized and know Slovak to apply to PdF UK?+
Yes, to be enrolled, you must provide a recognized document of completed secondary education: the decision on the equivalence of the Ukrainian diploma is made by the higher education institution for admission purposes or by the district office in the regional center for official purposes. Enrollment is not possible without a recognized diploma.
Studies are conducted in Slovak, so sufficient knowledge of the language is required — especially for teacher programs, as future teachers must teach their subjects in Slovak. Practical advice: submit your application in advance by March 31, 2026, and prepare your diploma recognition at the same time, as the procedure takes time.
