About the Faculty
The Faculty of Philosophy of Comenius University in Bratislava is one of the key departments of this university in the capital of Slovakia. The institution offers over 20 fields of study, including history, political science, sociology, journalism, and ethnology.

Can I study Ukrainian, Russian, or East European studies at the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University?+
Yes. The faculty offers the programs "ruské a východoeurópske štúdiá" (Russian and East European Studies) and "ruský jazyk a kultúra (v kombinácii)" (Russian Language and Culture (in combination)), as well as a wide range of Slavic studies — "slovanské štúdiá" (Slavic Studies), covering Eastern European and Slavic space, which is familiar to Ukrainian students. It is one of the largest humanities faculties in Slovakia with over 30 bachelor's degree programs.
Among the strong fields are psychology, journalism, marketing communication, political science, history, archaeology, and many language-cultural combinations (English, German, Romance, Classical, East Asian languages). Is tuition free at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University (FiF UK) for foreigners and is Slovak language needed?+
Full-time study in Slovak is free for the standard duration of the program, including for citizens of Ukraine — universities admit foreigners on equal terms. Fees only arise for exceeding the standard duration or parallel study of two programs. During admission, only the €20 fee is paid.
Since most programs are taught in Slovak, sufficient language proficiency is required for successful study; for language combinations, knowledge of the respective foreign language is also checked. A recognized document of secondary education is also required for enrollment. The submission deadline is February 28, 2026.
