About the Faculty

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is a structural part of the Technical University of Košice, located in eastern Slovakia. The institution specializes in training engineers for the industrial sector, particularly in the fields of mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, and energy.

Students can study programs such as computer-aided production support, industrial mechatronics, quality and safety, or prosthetics and orthotics. Education is provided at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. In addition to Slovak programs, specializations are available in English, for example, Industrial Engineering and Quality and Safety.

To apply for a bachelor's program, you need to submit an application form by August 23, 2026. The fee for processing the application is 30 euros. Students can live in a dormitory, with separate payment required.

For most bachelor's programs, admission is grantedwithout entrance exams— based on the average grade of the certificate in relevant subjects. A bachelor's diploma in the relevant field is required for master's programs. Applications are submitted via ePrihláška.

Until what date can I apply to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of TUKE in 2026?+

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of TUKE (Strojnícka fakulta) has a late deadline: applications for bachelor's studies are accepted until August 23, 2026. This is convenient for those who decide on a university in the summer or who were not accepted elsewhere in the first round in spring.

The fee for material support of the admission process when submitting an electronic application via the MAIS information system is €30. The electronic application does not need to be printed and sent by mail - the faculty will confirm its acceptance in the MAIS system after all attachments are added and the fee is paid.

What specializations does the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of TUKE offer?+

Bachelor's programs include: mechanical engineering, structural and energy engineering, automotive production, smart automotive technologies, computer-aided design in mechanical engineering, industrial mechatronics, and industrial engineering.

A special and rare field is prosthetics and orthotics (making prostheses and orthoses), as well as enterprise management and economics, and quality, safety, and environment. Some programs (Industrial Engineering, Quality and Safety) are available in English. The deadline is August 23, 2026, the fee is €30.

Is education at SjF TUKE free for Ukrainians and are there entrance exams?+

Full-time study in Slovak at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of TUKE is free during the standard program duration, including for citizens of Ukraine, who are admitted on equal terms. A fee is charged only for exceeding the standard duration or for parallel study; a fee of €30 is paid upon admission.

For full-time bachelor's studies, TUKE's technical faculties usually admit students without an entrance exam, based on their high school grades. A recognized document of secondary education is required for enrollment. Košice is an available student city in eastern Slovakia. Applications are submitted by August 23, 2026.
