Frequently Asked Questions about the University
Can I enroll at TUKE with temporary protection status if my certificate is not yet apostilled at the time of application?+
Yes. According to the conditions of FEI TUKE, a person granted temporary protection can confirm their completed secondary education with a sworn statement (čestné vyhlásenie) and a general academic aptitude test already when submitting the application form.
Apostilled documents (certificate/supplement) along with the decision on recognition of the education document must be submitted later – upon enrollment.
This significantly simplifies admission for Ukrainians who have not yet managed to obtain nostrification by the application deadline.
What level of Slovak language is required for admission to TUKE?+
For Slovak-language bachelor's programs, a foreign applicant must confirm Slovak language skills at least at the A1 level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
TUKE offers a free 180-hour online Slovak course: starting 02/15/2026, ending by 05/31/2026. The final online test is available from 03/15/2026 to 05/31/2026; a minimum of 51% is required for success (2 attempts).
An alternative is the Maturita exam in Slovak or Czech language or an A1 certificate from a Slovak language school. Without confirmation of language proficiency, enrollment in a Slovak-language program is not possible.

TUKE has student dormitories (SDAJ), the largest is Jedlíkova 9 (mainly students from FEI and the Faculty of Economics), as well as Jedlíkova 5 and others.
According to the current price list, different standards are available: student double rooms with a lower rate per person and higher standard rooms and apartments at a higher price. The estimated range for student accommodation is approximately €90–150 per person/month depending on the building and standard.
Getting a dormitory is linked to meeting admission deadlines, so do not delay your application.

Are there entrance exams at TUKE?+
At FEI TUKE, there is no separate entrance exam; the ranking of applicants is formed by the sum of points: average grade from school (max. 60), success in Olympiads/competitions, type of secondary school (max. 30).
For previous incomplete studies at another university in Slovakia, negative points are awarded (−150 or more).
Studying in Slovak within the standard length is free; alternatively, you can apply for English-language programs (Slovak is not required then, but different conditions apply).
