About the Faculty
The Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Processing is part of the Technical University of Košice, located in eastern Slovakia. The faculty has three main departments: the Institute of Metallurgy, the Institute of Materials and Quality Engineering, and the Institute of Recycling Technologies.
Education is offered at the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral levels. Students study metallurgy, polymers, composites, and material processing methods. The language of instruction is mainly Slovak, with some courses available in English. Practical training is a mandatory part of the program.
To apply for a Bachelor's program, applicants from Ukraine must submit an application (prihláška) by April 30, 2026, and go through the document nostrification process. The application fee is 20 euros. Studying in Slovak is free of charge. Accommodation in a dormitory (internát) is available upon a separate application.

How much does admission to FMMR TUKE in Košice cost, and are there entrance exams?+
There are no entrance exams — applicants are admitted based on their high school results. The admission fee is €20 when submitting an electronic application via the eprihlaska.tuke.sk system or €40 for a paper application, so submitting online is twice as cheap. The deadline for bachelor's applications is April 30, 2026.
Full-time study in Slovak within the standard period is free for everyone, including Ukrainians under temporary protection. The faculty is one of the less crowded technical fields, so the chances of admission are high, and graduates in metallurgy, materials science, and recycling are in demand at industrial enterprises in eastern Slovakia (especially U. S. Steel Košice).

Is education free and is there a dormitory at TUKE for students from FMMR?+
Full-time study in Slovak is free; a fee is charged only for exceeding the standard study period. The main student expenses are accommodation and food. The Technical University of Košice (Technická univerzita v Košiciach) has its own network of dormitories (ŠDaJ TUKE), and technical faculties usually have better accommodation availability compared to crowded universities in Bratislava.
The exact cost of dormitory accommodation and the conditions for settling in are determined by the university separately; the dormitory application is submitted after admission. Since the faculty has a small intake, competition for student places is lower. Accommodation details should be clarified directly within the TUKE system after receiving the admission decision.
