The restrictions will be in effect on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Workers will be trimming dry and dangerous branches on the forest road section from Vodojem (water reservoir) towards the Zelený dvor (Green Courtyard) recreation area. These are branches that could fall and injure visitors. According to Aktuality.sk, the route will be completely blocked during the work.
For those who live nearby, this is noticeable: the path to Zelený dvor, which is 3.5 km long, is one of the most popular routes for residents of the Dargovských hrdinov housing estate. Runners, cyclists, and families with children come here every day. The Furča forest park itself is part of a large city forest park that has been a recreation area for the people of Košice since 1960.
The areas where the equipment will be working will be marked with warning signs. Foresters ask people not to walk under the trees during the trimming, to follow the instructions of the staff, and if possible, to choose a different route for a walk or workout for that day, writes Korzár. After the work is completed, the route will be fully open again.
Such restrictions are part of the regular safety work of Mestské lesy Košice in the city forests. In March 2026, similar work to remove dangerous trees was carried out near the Hradová lookout tower, and in January, on the access road to the forest park from Adlerova Street. So, if you planned to visit Furča on Thursday, postpone your trip to another day or choose paths that do not lead towards Zelený dvor.
