On Monday evening, during construction work in the center of Bratislava, near the intersection of Landererova and Čulenova streets, a 500-pound World War II aerial bomb was found. Police and bomb disposal experts immediately arrived at the scene and confirmed the origin of the explosive device.
The police reported that there is no danger to residents at the moment. However, on Tuesday, September 9, starting at 6:00 AM, an evacuation of nearby buildings will begin. This will cover the area bordered by Mlynské Nivy, Košická, Landererova, Pribinova, Dostojevského rad, and Karadžičova streets. The evacuation is planned to finish by 9:00 AM, after which bomb disposal experts will start working to neutralize the bomb. This work is expected to last until 12:00 PM.
The police urge residents to remain calm and to carefully follow official announcements regarding the evacuation and any restrictions.
