In short

From September 1, 2025, all foreign students living in dormitories of the Technical University in Košice (TUKE) must have valid medical insurance for their entire stay. Not having insurance can lead to high costs for emergency medical care and cause problems when applying for permanent residence or citizenship in Slovakia. This rule currently applies only to TUKE dormitories but may be extended to other universities in Slovakia.
