Bratislava police carried out a series of large-scale checks across the city and region that lasted several days. During the raids, law enforcement officers checked over five hundred people, discovered dozens of violations, and detained one person who was internationally wanted. Similar actions will continue throughout the summer season.
These measures are part of the police's preventive strategy to increase safety in the summer. They are checking drivers, foreigners, teenagers in recreation areas, and taxi drivers.
What, where, and when happened?
The largest operation took place in the Bratislava III district. Over 50 officers from the criminal, patrol, traffic, and railway police, as well as municipal police, conducted thorough checks.
Results of the main raid:
486 people were checked.
136 vehicles were inspected.
A number of violations were found, for which fines were issued.
One person who was internationally wanted was detained.
Special attention was paid to recreation areas. Near the Veľký Draždiak lake in the Petržalka district, 75 people were checked. Based on the results, four fines were issued – mainly for illegally setting up tents, lighting fires, and underage drinking.
Who is being checked and why is this important for Ukrainians?
The police clearly defined the target groups: drivers, foreigners, youth in public places, and taxi drivers. For Ukrainians living in Slovakia, the aspect of checking foreigners is particularly important.
During such raids, the police have the right to request documents that prove identity and confirm the legality of stay in the country. Therefore, always carry with you:
Passport (foreign).
Temporary protection document (dočasné útočisko) or other residence permit.
Driver's license and vehicle documents (technický preukaz), if you are driving.
If you do not have your documents during a check, you may be detained until your identity is confirmed and the legality of your stay is verified, and you may also be issued a significant fine.

An encounter with a police patrol during such raids is quite possible. Here are a few tips to avoid misunderstandings.
Stay calm. Be polite and non-confrontational.
Provide documents. Clearly and without delay, present your documents when requested by the police officer.
Follow instructions. Comply with the lawful demands of law enforcement officers.
You have the right to know the reason. You can ask why you were stopped or are being checked.
The police assured that similar preventive measures will continue in various parts of the Bratislava region throughout the summer. Their goal is not only to detect offenses but also to prevent crime and ensure public order.
