The longest tunnel in the V4 countries, Višňové, will be closed for 14 days for spring maintenance. The direction towards Košice will be closed on May 4 at 08:00, and the direction towards Bratislava at 19:00.
Four months have passed since it opened, but already it is necessary to clean the walls and road, which is as large as 40 football fields. They also need to check 66 km of drainage pipes and test thousands of sensors, cameras, and ventilation systems. Work will continue day and night to finish as quickly as possible.
During the tunnel closure, the main traffic flow will be directed through Strečno Castle. All repair work there will be stopped to allow for the smoothest traffic possible. Drivers are advised to plan their time, as traffic through the Strečno gorge will increase.
