Starting May 1, all business owners must accept cashless payments for purchases over 1 euro. The Financial Administration explains key points to avoid misinformation:
Seller chooses payment method: card payment, mobile phone payment, bank transfer, or QR code payment are all acceptable.
Cash is not disappearing: customers have the right to pay with cash, and cash payment remains the main option in case of technical problems.
Free solutions: for small businesses, the VRP 2 application is available, which allows generating QR codes without extra fees.
Fines: refusing to accept cashless payment can result in a fine from 500 to 15,000 euros.
This new rule is intended to simplify transactions and increase business transparency.
