Usually, utility workers try to finish serious network work before the heat, and in August only minor accidents remain. This week is the opposite: in the Košice region alone, the company Východoslovenská distribučná (VSD) (Eastern Slovak Distribution Company) has planned more than twenty power outages from August 3 to 7, and in Košice and Prešov, hot water is being turned off at the same time, writes the portal kosicak.sk.
This will be most painful for those who work from home: without electricity, there is no air conditioner, no internet, and no refrigerator. In Košice, where heat above 30 degrees Celsius is forecast, this means a whole working day of discomfort, as outages will last 9-10 hours in a row.
Outage schedule
The first outage started today, August 3: from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 57 addresses on Orgovánová street in the Košice – Západ city district will be without electricity. Also today, from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, there is no power in Spišské Podhradie on Levočská cesta and Spišská Kapitula streets, where they are reconstructing a low-voltage line.

Tuesday, August 4. Košice – Sídlisko Ťahanovce (Juhoslovanská street, 7:40 AM–4:30 PM), Kuzmice (15 addresses, 7:40 AM–6:00 PM), Michalovce — immediately 169 addresses on A. S. Puškina, Andreja Kmeťa, Masarykova streets and others (8:30 AM–12:30 PM), Sobrance (7:30 AM–2:30 PM), Veľká Lomnica (7:40 AM–3:30 PM).
Wednesday, August 5. Sídlisko Ťahanovce, Belehradská street — 77 addresses (7:00 AM–4:30 PM), Trhovište (8:00 AM–1:30 PM).
Thursday, August 6. The most outages: Dobšiná (118 addresses), Smižany (145 addresses on Bystrá, Lúčna, Poľná streets and others), Budkovce (92 addresses), Vinné (75 addresses), as well as Horňa, Hrabušice, Čelovce and again Belehradská in Košice.
Friday, August 7. Trebišov — a record 196 addresses on Štúrova, Kollárová, Tichá streets and others (7:00 AM–5:00 PM), Michalovce, Budkovce, Vinné, Veľké Revištia and Aténska street in Ťahanovce.
By the way, in Veľká Lomnica there is another outage ahead — on August 14 from 7:40 AM to 2:00 PM on Jilemnického, Školská and Skalnatá streets due to reconstruction of a high-voltage line.
Hot water: Košice and Prešov
In the Košice district of Dargovských hrdinov, there has been no hot water for a week, and it will not be available at least until August 7, 8:00 PM. The reason is planned work on the primary pipeline, carried out by the company TEHO. Details were published by the Košice – Dargovských hrdinov city district.
In Prešov, the outage will affect the Sídlisko II microdistrict from August 3 to 7. The company Spravbytkomfort is reconstructing an emergency section of the heating pipeline on Októbrová street: removing the old pipe and laying 54.6 meters of new insulated steel pipeline, reports the contractor's announcement.

It is better to check exact addresses and times at the primary source: the planned outage schedule on the VSD website is updated regularly, and you can also report unplanned cases there. Interruptions in cold water are monitored by Východoslovenská vodárenská spoločnosť (Eastern Slovak Water Company) at vodarne.eu.
If your house is on the list, prepare in advance:
Charge phones, power banks, and laptops — for the whole working day.
Stock up on drinking water and avoid opening the refrigerator unnecessarily.
Reschedule online meetings if you work remotely, because the router does not work without power.
