On Sunday, August 2, around noon, a small plane crashed on the territory of an agricultural cooperative in the village of Očová (district Zvolen). There were no survivors.
There were three people on board: a 48-year-old pilot, a 38-year-old man, and his 4-year-old son. Rescue services arrived almost immediately, but the injuries of all three were fatal, the press service of the Banská Bystrica Region police reported.
The plane was performing a sightseeing flight. According to the village mayor Petra Sámeľa, it took off from the local airfield, but it did not belong to the local Aeroklub Očová (aeroclub), and the pilot was not a member. According to media information, Dušan P., a former military pilot, was at the controls. His friend, aviation photographer Milan Paprčka, remembers him as a person who “was never in a bad mood.”
Witnesses say that before the crash, the plane was flying quite low. Suddenly, thick black smoke came out of it, a sound like an explosion was heard, and within seconds the aircraft fell down. The publication Bystricoviny suggests that it was a four-seat plane of the Cessna 172 type.
The crash site is surrounded by police tape, and all emergency services are working there. The exact causes and circumstances of the tragedy are currently being investigated. Due to the sensitivity of the case, the police do not disclose details, writes HNonline.
