Faculties of Slovak universities for foreigners
Faculties are the main building blocks of Slovak universities: each one specializes in its own field and offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs. This catalog collects the faculties of state, public and private universities in Slovakia — with their fields, the number of programs, and pages that list admission requirements, deadlines and admissions office contacts.
For foreigners, admission to a faculty is possible after recognition (nostrifikácia) of a school-leaving certificate or a diploma. Full-time study in Slovak at public institutions is free, including for people with temporary protection status. What is a faculty and how is it different from a study program?+
A faculty (fakulta) is a division of a university that brings together related programs from one field — law, medicine, philosophy and so on. A specific specialization with its own curriculum and degree is called a study program (študijný program). Admission and deadlines are set at program level, so on a faculty page look at the list of its programs.
How do I choose a faculty to apply to?+
Go by the field and the program, not only by the name of the university: the same specialization can be taught at faculties of several universities. Use the filters by city, field and degree, then compare deadlines, cost and language of instruction on each faculty page.
Is study at these faculties free for Ukrainians?+
Full-time study in Slovak at public and state universities is free within the standard duration — including for Ukrainians with temporary protection status. You pay for the part-time (externá) form, for programs taught in English and for study at private universities.

When should I apply to a faculty and what are the deadlines?+
You apply online through ePrihláška before the deadline of the specific program at that faculty. Medical and arts fields close admission earlier (December–February), the rest usually by March–April; there is often a second round in the summer. Check the exact dates on the faculty and program page.

Do I need Slovak to study at a faculty?+
Programs taught in Slovak usually require level B1–B2, and it may be checked during admission. Some faculties offer programs in English — these are normally paid. Free study applies to the full-time form taught in Slovak.
