Starting October 12, 2025, the EES (Entry/Exit System) will be active. This is a digital system to record entries and exits for citizens from countries outside the EU, including Ukraine. It will replace passport stamps and will record your entries, exits, or refusals to enter. It will also collect biometric data (fingerprints and a photo of your face) during your first trip.

➡️ At the end of 2026, ETIAS will start. This is an authorization for visa-free travel to 30 European countries. It is not a visa, but a short online application (cost is €7). You will need to submit this application before your trip to confirm you meet the entry requirements. The authorization will be valid for 3 years or until your passport expires.

⚠️ Who is not affected by EES and ETIAS? People with temporary protection or a valid residence permit (long-term stay permit) in the EU. However, it is important to have the physical plastic card to avoid registration in the new systems.

🔗 You do not need to do anything yet. Both systems are not yet working. The EU will officially announce the start of ETIAS registration in advance. But it is good to know about the changes now.
