Do you live on Tokajícka street in Košice and planned to do laundry, shower, and take your child to kindergarten as usual at the end of July? It's better to check your plans again: from July 28 to August 7, there will be no hot water every day from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM in this part of the Dargovských Hrdinov district.

The shutdown will last for 11 days in a row – daily breaks during the day, from morning to evening. This affects residential buildings at addresses Tokajícka 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20, as well as the kindergarten (materská škola) on Lidické námestie. For parents, this is an extra problem: either the kindergarten will temporarily change its operating hours, or children will have to stay home. It's worth checking this with the kindergarten's administration before the work starts.

Why the water is being shut off and who is responsible

Hot water will be shut off due to planned work on the hot water supply pipelines. This work is being carried out by the company Tepelné hospodárstvo (TEHO) Košice, the city's heating network operator. This is not an emergency, but a planned replacement and repair of a section of the network. The dates are fixed: hot water should return on August 7.

The warning for residents was published by the administration of the city district, and the city publication Kosicak also provided details here.

What to do before July 28

If your address is on the list, prepare in advance: stock up on water for household needs, check if your boiler or electric kettle works for heating water, and arrange alternative ways for hygiene during this period. Many new buildings in Košice have centralized hot water, so you might not have your own boiler. Check this now, not on the 28th.

If the schedule changes, which can happen with planned work, TEHO publishes the current shutdown schedule on its website. Emergency shutdowns for the whole city also appear there, so it's worth saving the page for everyone living in Košice.
