For the first time since Robert Fico returned to power, Slovakia is preparing a new package of military support for Ukraine. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Slovakia, Robert Kalinák, during his speech at the third International Forum of Defense Industries in Kyiv.
Kalinák announced that Slovakia and Ukraine signed a memorandum for the 14th support package, which includes engineering and demining assistance, including the free transfer of five Božena demining systems.
In addition to demining machines, Slovakia will provide construction equipment, vehicles, and medical evacuation equipment.
It was also announced that the Slovak government is already working on the 15th support package for Ukraine.
"We also discussed the prospects for cooperation between Ukrainian and Slovak companies. I thank the government and people of Slovakia for their support," wrote Shmyhal on Telegram.
The new package is the first instance of military-technical support for Ukraine from Slovakia since November 2023, when Fico's government announced the cessation of military aid to Kyiv, leaving only humanitarian and non-lethal support. The Slovak side emphasizes that it is transferring exclusively non-lethal means and does not plan to provide weapons or ammunition in the future.
