The Slovak government approved a law that changes the working conditions for couriers and drivers of digital services. This law will take effect in December 2026. The new rules state: if the work shows signs of being official employment, platforms will have to hire people as employees or prove that this is not the case. Companies must reveal the logic of their algorithms. It is forbidden to monitor workers outside of working hours and to collect private data.
Additionally, blocking accounts must now be checked by a real person, not a bot. For violations, platforms face fines of up to 50,000 euros and registration in a special state registry.
