On April 23, a large-scale road safety operation took place throughout Slovakia. The joint raid by the Border and Alien Police Directorate, along with road and patrol services, aimed to improve order in passenger transport and courier services.
Law enforcement officers paid special attention to taxi drivers and delivery service drivers. In total, during the day, the following were checked:
over 480 people, including almost 100 citizens from countries outside the EU;
413 vehicles, including 230 taxis and 50 courier service vehicles;
19 commercial establishments.
The main goal of the checks was to monitor drivers from third countries, detect cases of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and combat illegal work.
Based on the results of the large-scale operation, law enforcement confirmed the critical need for regular checks, discovering dozens of serious violations. Specifically, during the raid, 12 cases of suspected illegal employment were recorded, and the materials have already been handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation. Additionally, inspectors found 9 instances of foreigners violating the rules of stay in the country, and documented over 60 cases of drivers ignoring traffic rules.
Law enforcement emphasizes that such measures are carried out not only for road safety but also to protect legal businesses. Control helps ensure fair conditions for all entrepreneurs and guarantees that transport services are provided according to the law.
