Without clear goals and measuring results, Slovakia is stuck in place. It does not create good conditions for foreigners, even though the economy depends on them. A report from the Supreme Audit Office (NKU) for 2021-2023 found that a lack of coordination, up-to-date data, and clear goals between government bodies slows down the integration of migrants. This leaves the country without opportunities for economic growth.
"If Slovakia wants to deal with the effects of an aging population and compete for talent, it needs an active and functional integration policy. Without this, we risk losing opportunities for economic growth," says Henrieta Crkoňová, deputy head of the Supreme Audit Office.In 3 years, Slovakia issued only 62 "Blue Cards" for skilled workers. In comparison, Poland issued 15,000, and the Czech Republic issued 2,000. In the World Talent Ranking, Slovakia is in 53rd place out of 67.
