A meeting was held at the Zakarpattia Regional Military Administration to strengthen Ukrainian-Slovak partnership, implement joint infrastructure projects, and attract investments for the country's reconstruction.
The event was attended by Juraj Toporčák, Director of the Department for the Reconstruction of Ukraine of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, and the region's leadership. This was reported by Myroslav Biletskyi, Deputy Head of the Regional Military Administration.
According to him, during the conversation, the parties discussed several key areas of cooperation:
Development of border infrastructure. The discussion included expanding the capacity of existing crossing points, opening new ones, and building the Slovak highway D1. Ukraine plans to join the October discussion on cross-border cooperation issues in Slovakia.
Tourism and recreation initiatives. The expansion of the project to build a bicycle path through the Carpathian Mountains to the Slovak side was discussed. The initiative is expected to boost community development, attract tourists, and grow the local economy.
Support for veterans. The continuation of cooperation in the rehabilitation of Ukrainian military personnel was discussed, particularly regarding equipping medical facilities with modern specialized equipment.
The prospect of opening a pedestrian crossing at the "Uzhhorod – Vyšné Nemecké" checkpoint was discussed separately, which will facilitate easier movement for citizens and strengthen ties between the neighboring regions.
