Instead of the old premises on Prokofievova Street, the Bratislava district of Petržalka will get a new flagship library. A modern two-story space on Fedinova Street will open for visitors already in August.

The new building is designed as a multifunctional cultural center, not just a place for books. It will offer residents much wider opportunities for leisure, work, and study.

What will be inside

The space is organized to meet the needs of different visitor groups. Among the main areas are:

  • A multifunctional hall for lectures, presentations, and meetings.
  • A separate study room (študovňa) for quiet work or study.
  • A spacious children's area, equipped for the youngest readers.
  • A relaxation zone where you can quietly read a book or magazine.

When to expect the opening

This project is a response to the unsatisfactory condition of the old central branch on Prokofievova. Although the grand opening is planned for the beginning of the school year in September, the library will open its doors to readers in August 2026.

The new library is intended to become the main cultural and educational center for the largest housing estate in Slovakia. As representatives of the district report, this is one of the key infrastructure projects for Petržalka. The institution is expected to eventually offer extended opening hours and more services for the local community.
