About the Faculty
The Faculty of Education is a structural part of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. The institution includes the departments of Elementary and Preschool Education, Psychology, Social Work, Theology, and the Center for Arts and Culture. This university specializes in training professionals for the education system.
Students pursue education in bachelor's and master's programs. The learning process focuses on practical training for specialists who will work in schools and social institutions. Teaching is mainly conducted in Slovak.
To apply, applicants must submit a *prihláška* (application form) and pay an administrative fee of 35 euros. The deadline for submitting documents is the end of February or the beginning of March. Questions about tuition fees and the availability of a place in the *internát* (dormitory) should be clarified directly with the admissions office.

How much does it cost to apply to the Faculty of Education UMB in Banská Bystrica?+
The fee for applying for a bachelor's degree is €40 for a paper application or €35 for an electronic one; the electronic form is cheaper. For a master's degree, the fee is €50 (€45 electronically), and for a doctorate, it is €60 (€55 electronically).
The fee must be paid by bank transfer no later than the last day for submitting the application. Those who register their application in the electronic system of the Faculty of Education UMB must also send a printed, signed copy to: Pedagogická fakulta UMB, Ružová 13, 974 11 Banská Bystrica.

When is the application deadline for the Faculty of Education UMB for 2026/2027?+
The application for bachelor's studies must be sent no later than April 30, 2026. The application fee must also be paid on the same day, otherwise the application will not be considered.

What fields of study and departments does the Faculty of Education UMB have?+
The faculty has six departments: the Department of Elementary and Preschool Pedagogy, the Department of Pedagogy and Andragogy, the Department of Psychology, the Department of Social Work, the Department of Theology and Catechetics, and the Center for Art and Culture.
This offers a wide choice: training for primary school teachers and preschool education, social work, psychology, and andragogy (adult education). The studies are conducted in Slovak, so an appropriate level of Slovak is required.
