The faculty focuses on practical employment. Graduates of the "Finance, Banking and Investment" program work in financial institutions and banks, financial markets and international financial institutions, as well as in private and public sector enterprises and government bodies — particularly in accounting, tax management, and tax consulting.

Graduates of the "Economics and Enterprise Management" program are prepared for middle and senior management positions in business; the program is coordinated by the Department of Economics and Enterprise Management. Banská Bystrica is a regional economic center, and a Slovak state diploma opens access to the labor market of the entire EU.

The faculty's main fields — finance, management, tourism, public economics, and regional development — correspond to seven departments, so the range of possible positions is wide: from financial analyst to enterprise manager or specialist in a state institution.

The main bachelor's programs are taught in Slovak, so knowledge of Slovak is required for full-time study. The entrance exam also tests language skills: it consists of written tests in economics basics and one foreign language — English or German (chosen by the applicant).

At the same time, the faculty has a full English-language program — "Ekonomika a manažment podniku v anglickom jazyku" (Economics and Enterprise Management in English), offered since 2006, which is identical to the Slovak version. This is an option for those who do not yet have sufficient Slovak language skills.

Exemption from the entrance exam can be granted — for example, for a score of 50th percentile or higher in the General Study Prerequisites test VŠP/OSP (SCIO national comparative exams).

Matej Bel University is a state (public) university in Slovakia. Its bachelor's (Bc.) and master's (Ing.) programs are accredited in the state field of "Ekonómia a manažment" (Economics and Management). This means you will receive an official Slovak state diploma, which is recognized within the European Union.

To use the diploma in Ukraine, the standard procedure for recognizing foreign educational documents (nostrification) applies. For work or further study in the EU, a Slovak state diploma usually does not require additional confirmation.

Because the programs belong to the single accredited field of Economics and Management, the degree has a clear professional connection. This simplifies further admission to the master's (Ing.) level, both at MBU and at other universities.

Full-time study in the state (Slovak) language at public universities in Slovakia is free. Tuition fees are not charged within the standard duration of the program (for bachelor's studies, this is 3 years). Payment is only required for exceeding the standard duration or for parallel study in two programs.

Even the 1st-cycle English-language bachelor's program at MBU costs €0 within the standard duration. A fee of around €1,500/year is only foreseen for exceeding the standard period. Only the application fee is paid separately: €40 for an electronic application (ePrihláška) or €60 for a paper one.

At public universities, students can apply for social and merit-based (for academic achievement) scholarships. This is an additional way to reduce living costs during studies.
