About the Faculty
The Faculty of Education of the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra is one of the seven faculties of this university, located in the city of Nitra. Currently, 1655 students are studying here, and 7 specialized departments ensure the educational process.
The faculty offers 15 study programs at the bachelor's (bc), master's (mgr), and doctoral (phd) levels. Teaching is conducted exclusively in Slovak, so fluent knowledge of the language is a mandatory condition for successful admission and study.
The cost of submitting an electronic application (ePrihláška) is 25 euros. For the bachelor's program 2026/27, applications submitted through the faculty's website are open until August 9, 2026, and for music programs, until July 6, 2026. Do I need to take an entrance exam to study at the Faculty of Education, UKF in Nitra?+
For two main bachelor's programs – “Preschool and Elementary Pedagogy” and “Special Pedagogy, Education and Management of Education” – the faculty website states admission without an entrance exam (bez prijímacej skúšky): the decision on enrollment is made based on high school results and submitted documents.
Talent exams are required for artistic and sports fields – primarily teaching of music, visual arts education, and sports and recreation; the faculty holds such exams approximately in June (for music programs, the separate application deadline is July 6, 2026).
Please note: the state portal portalvs.sk still shows the exam window of June 8–12, 2026, and a deadline of March 31, 2026, for these programs – so it is advisable to confirm the final conditions with the faculty's student affairs office before applying.

In what language are these programs taught, and what level of Slovak is needed for a future teacher?+
Both main bachelor's programs are taught in Slovak – the faculty does not offer separate English-language versions for them.
Since the graduate will work as an educator or teacher in a Slovak kindergarten or school, fluent Slovak is required – sufficient to teach children, keep records, and pass exams during studies. Applicants from Ukraine should improve their language skills in advance to a level comfortable for mastering pedagogy subjects and completing practical training.

What jobs can you get after these bachelor's programs in Slovak kindergartens and schools?+
The bachelor's program “Preschool and Elementary Pedagogy” prepares an “elementary” kindergarten teacher (materská škola), and also provides competencies of a pedagogical assistant, an educator in school after-school care facilities, and a school specialist.
The program 'Special Pedagogy, Education, and Educational Management' prepares educators, school special needs teachers, and pedagogical assistants, adding skills in project management and educational management. The planned intake for this program is about 40 places (according to portalvs.sk).

Is a bachelor's degree enough to work as a teacher, and how much does tuition cost at UKF?+
UKF is a state (verejná) university; full-time study with standard duration is free, only the application fee is charged - €25 electronically or €30 on paper.
The bachelor's level prepares a 'primary' teacher and already gives the right to work, for example, as a pedagogical assistant and educator. For full teaching qualification in Slovakia, people usually continue their studies in a master's program (Mgr) at the same faculty - the faculty offers all three levels (Bc, Mgr, PhD).
